Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
Save Point is a game list and tracker run as a hobby project from Norway. This page explains what Save Point stores about you, why, who else sees it, and how to delete it. Save Point Lite (this address) is set up to show ads from Google AdSense later, to help pay for hosting; none are shown yet. The full Save Point site has no ads. Save Point has no analytics trackers and never sells your data.
If you donate through the Support Save Point link, the donation is handled by Ko-fi (and its payment providers) under their own privacy policy. Save Point doesn’t see your payment details, and donating doesn’t change anything on your account.
Who is responsible
Save Point (lite.save-point.info) is responsible for your data under the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation, which applies in Norway. Contact: privacy@save-point.info.
What Save Point stores
- Your Steam account. You sign in through Steam, which tells Save Point your SteamID. Save Point then reads your public Steam profile: name, picture, games and hours played, achievement counts and friends list (only what your Steam privacy settings make public).
- What you add. Ratings, reviews, notes, statuses, lists, your play journal, profile settings and layout, pictures you upload, posts and reactions on profiles and hot takes, and wishlist alerts.
- Accounts you choose to connect. For example Epic Games, Xbox, PlayStation, Riot, Battle.net (Overwatch), Ubisoft (Rainbow Six Siege), osu!, Bungie (Destiny 2) and Ninja Kiwi (Bloons TD 6). Save Point stores the account name or ID and the game data it reads with it. Sign-ins that need ongoing access (Bungie for the Item Manager, the Bloons TD 6 key) are kept on the server only, encrypted where the platform hands out a token, and never shown to other people.
- Xbox, kept up to date (only if you turn it on). When you press Keep up to date under Xbox in Settings → Connections, Microsoft asks you to allow ongoing access, and Save Point keeps the sign-in token Microsoft gives for that. It’s stored encrypted on the server, never shown to anyone, and only used about every half hour (while you use Save Point) to read which Xbox games you played recently and for how long. Each use replaces it with a new token. Press Stop or Disconnect and it’s deleted straight away; you can also remove Save Point’s access at account.live.com/consent/Manage. Without it, Xbox (like PlayStation and Epic) is read once when you press Update, and the sign-in isn’t kept.
- The desktop app, if you install it. The name of your computer, the app version, and match data from the games you switch on in the app (for example results, scores and stats). The app only sends this to your own account.
- Games you play (desktop app, can be switched off). With Games you play on, the app checks on your computer once a minute which game is running from Steam, the Epic Games Launcher, GOG Galaxy, Ubisoft Connect or the Xbox app (it reads the list of running programs, the launchers’ lists of installed games, and the name and store ID in the folders the Xbox app installs games to). Only the running game’s name and store ID, and how long it has been running, are sent to Save Point, to update Last played, Playing and your Epic and Ubisoft hours, and to add a game you don’t have in your list yet. Nothing else about your computer or other programs leaves it. Turn the switch off in the app and nothing is checked or sent.
- Technical data. A sign-in cookie, and server logs (IP address, time and the page asked for) kept by our host for a short time to keep the site running and safe.
Why
To run the service you sign up for: show your list and stats, your profile to the people you allow, your friends’ activity, game pages and match history (this is necessary to provide the service, GDPR article 6(1)(b)). Keeping the site secure and working uses technical data (our legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f)). Public profiles, sharing notes and connecting accounts are your choice and can be switched off at any time.
Who else sees it
- Other people on Save Point see your profile only as your settings allow (public, friends or private).
- Game platforms. To look up your games and stats, Save Point sends the needed account ID or name to the platform’s API (Valve/Steam, Epic, Microsoft/Xbox, Sony/PlayStation, Riot, Bungie, Ubisoft data via Arenyze, Overwatch data via OverFast, Ninja Kiwi, IGDB/Twitch for game details, and others listed on each game page).
- Service providers that host the site and database for us: Render (servers in Frankfurt, EU) and our Postgres database provider. Cloudflare handles our domain name. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and game pictures, clips and trailer pictures load straight from Steam, IGDB and YouTube; each sees your IP address when your browser fetches them.
- Nobody else, unless the law requires it.
Cookies and storage
Save Point uses one cookie, to keep you signed in. It is needed for the site to work, so there is no cookie banner. Your browser also stores a few preferences locally (like theme, collapsed sections and filters). On Save Point Lite, Google’s ad cookies are only set once ads are switched on, as described below.
Ads on Save Point Lite
When ads are switched on, they are served by Google (Google Ireland Limited in the EEA). Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show ads and measure them, based on your visits to this and other websites. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you get a consent message from Google first, and you can say no or change your choice at any time from the Privacy and cookie settings link it adds to the page; without consent, Google can still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for things like frequency capping and fraud prevention.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and turn personalised ads off in My Ad Center (or for many companies at once at youronlinechoices.eu). Ads are only shown after you sign in, never on the sign-in page, and Save Point doesn’t pass your Steam account, your list or anything you add to Google.
How long
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, everything tied to it is removed from the live database straight away; copies in our database provider’s backups disappear as those backups expire (within a few weeks). Public game statistics that aren’t tied to your Save Point account (for example a match a player took part in) can stay in our cache.
Your rights
- See and take your data: Settings → Account → Download CSV or JSON.
- Correct it: edit anything in your list or settings.
- Delete it: Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also disconnect any connected account on its own, stop keeping Xbox up to date (which deletes the saved sign-in), and switch off Games you play in the desktop app.
- Ask us anything about your data, or object to how it’s used, at privacy@save-point.info.
- Complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Save Point isn’t meant for children under 13. Steam and most connected platforms have their own age rules too.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is listed in the patch notes on the site.
